I just got back from USCA in Orlando FL, and boy was it kewl! Got to learn a whole lot about ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) and about Social Networking , as you know we're now tweeting and blogging, and our facebook is coming up very soon. I got to meet Dr. Robert Koh, the Assistant Secretary of Health under Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of Health. He was very approachable, and seemed genuinely interested in who I was and what Ti-chee was doing in the fight against HIV/AIDS. I told him I didn't envy him because of all the responsibilities he oversees, he said "it keeps me off the streets" LOL.
I realize now that it's going to take more effort on all of us to change the direction that HIV Prevention is going and we'll have to step up our game if we're going to really affect that change. We are all responsible for how people percieve and react to HIV/AIDS. As a person with HIV/AIDS I know what my responsibility is in this dilemma, and I know that what I do is done with love and respect for the lives and health of others and the lives and health of the human race. It is my greatest hope that people start understanding just how vital it is to the future of humankind that responsibility, self-awareness, and humility becomes a part of every life affected by HIV/AIDS.
I know that now that it is Ti-chee's destiny to continue our fight against HIV/AIDS however and whenever possible. We're on the right track, and the IHS grant and our enhanced Rapid HIV Testing Initiative is just the beginning of a brighter and bigger future where HIV Screening is routine, and detection and treatment of HIV is as common as cancer with no expiration date.
Stay healthy, Get tested, Live Long and Prosper....
