Rapid HIV Field Testing

Ti-chee has been busy!  Whilst waiting for the training dates for Tulalip and Swinomish to firm up we've been busy doing more field testing.  On Tuesday, November 16, 2010 Ti-chee and the Lummi Health Clinic offered bundled testing at the Northwest Indian College Lummi Campus (NWIC) to offer the flu vaccination and Rapid HIV testing.  This constitutes the first Field testing event with the Lummi tribe under this grant.  We were able to perform 16 Rapid HIV Tests utilizing Orasure OraQuick ADVANCE Oral HIV 1/2 Antibody Tests.  We're happy to report that all tests came back negative, and we were able to counsel all 16 people on HIV prevention and goals for practicing safe sex.
